So I just installed Ubuntu on my new computer?
My sound don’t work ,my wireless don’t work,I need some codec software to play simple mp3′s and I try for 20 minutes to figure out how to install a software. As for drivers download and installation it is easier task to learn Chinese! In order to do anything I have to spend hours on Google and Linux forums. Is that the greatest OS everybody is talking about? After my short experience with Ubuntu,Vista now seem like a superior operating system.
I don’t see what I can do with Linux that I can’t with windows.I don’t really have a problem with windows I was just curious to see what everybody was talking about.Linux is not for me,way too complicated
Thank you all for you helpful links,I did manage to get the sound working and the codecs but I still can’t make the wireless work.I have try about 20 differend drivers but nothing.I can live without other stuff but the wireless on a laptop is essential.
Whenever you try a new OS, it takes a while to adjust..
What is great about Ubuntu (and linux in general) are…
1) It’s free.
2) It’s more secure and has less viruses than OS X or Windows..
3) It has tons of free software to download if you learn the equivalents..
4) It’s very customizable more so than Windows or OS X.

What version of Ubuntu? 8.10 or 8.04 LTS, I would first get 8.04 since they have worked out a lot of bugs.. 8.10 has issues with sound… but it is fixable..
