Mandarin is the world’s oldest continous spoken and written language with a 5000 year history. It is based on stroke character system unlike the arabic greek system. Spoken Mandarin words all have four tones consisting of a raised tone for the first tone, flat for the second tone, down and up for the third tone, and down tone for the fourth tone. Other dialects such as Shanghainese have more tones thus making Mandarin the most simple to learn concidentally. Mandarin is fluid to learn and it takes a lifetime to master.
