How are Hong Kong films subtitled?

Hi, I speak and can read Mandarin Chinese and I was wondering if watching Hong Kong films with Chinese subtitles would be of any help to me in learning Cantonese.

I heard that written Cantonese is different from standard Chinese, so are Hong Kong films subtitled the Cantonese way? Will this confuse me with my knowledge of Mandarin?

I also heard that it could be subtitled the Mandarin way, but I think the Mandarin way will not help me learn Canto, am I right?

I am personally Cantonese myself and lived in Hong Kong:
There’s only not that much difference between Cantonese and Mandarin (and I’m learning Mandarin) but in the words there’s not so much difference. Just today there’s the simplified chinese type. Only speaking is a little different too, so it will be easy to learn BOTH Mandarin and Cantonese together because they are so related.

Now onto the subbing, Hong Kong or Cantonese films are subbed in simplified Chinese (mandarin people can read it easily). I’m sure you won’t have any problems reading the subs from Cantonese movies.
