Teaching kids English through songs?
For community service, I’m teaching Chinese kids (ages 5-7) English. And one of the most effective ways of doing so is through song as they really enjoy it and they learn a lot as well.
However, I’m having a hard time finding songs to use.
So far, I’ve only got the ‘Heads, shoulders, knees and toes’ song. I need songs that actually teach them something (e.g. songs about numbers, colours, months, etc) and not just songs such as ‘Row, row, row your boat’ or ‘itsy bitsy spider.’ See?
I’ve searched for a long time online, and although britishcouncil.org have a lot of options, I can’t seem to listen or download any of their songs, effectively rendering them useless to me.
Would anyone know any songs that fit my above criteria and is accessible (i.e. downloadable and free)?
Thanks!
You can do the hokey pokey to teach them body parts…
I’m gonna do some searches and update this, if I find more..that’s off the top of my head
